Lamine Yamal Reveals His Plan to Win the Ballon d’Or in 2026
How Yamal Plans to Win the Ballon d’Or Next Year!
Lamine Yamal was in the race for the Ballon d’Or for a long time during the recently concluded season. However, he fell behind towards the end. Barcelona’s elimination from the Champions League semi-finals was mainly the reason for Yamal’s setback.
But even though he couldn’t win it this time, Yamal still dreams of lifting this prestigious individual award in the future—maybe even as early as next year. In an interview, Yamal explained how he could win the Ballon d’Or next year.
Speaking to the Spanish media outlet El Partidazo de Cope, Yamal discussed his Ballon d’Or ambitions in detail. Regarding how he might lift the Ballon d’Or next year, Yamal said, “If next year I can win the World Cup and the Champions League, then the Ballon d’Or will come after that.”

If Yamal’s words come true, Barcelona will win the Champions League and Spain will win the World Cup next year. And for both teams to win the trophies, Yamal will undoubtedly have to play a major role. If he can do that, the Ballon d’Or could literally end up in Yamal’s hands.
However, Yamal doesn’t want to think too much about the Ballon d’Or. The Barça winger wants to focus on doing his job properly: “I don’t think about the Ballon d’Or. I think just thinking about it is a bad thing. I only think about playing and winning.”
In the same interview, Yamal also picked his favorite players in various positions from this year’s Champions League. As his favorite coach, Yamal chose PSG’s trophy-winning Luis Enrique.

For best goalkeeper and defender, he selected PSG’s Gianluigi Donnarumma and Willian Pacho. As the best midfielder, Yamal chose his teammate Pedri, and his favorite forward is Vitinha.
